HUARAZ AND CORDILLERA BLANCA TOUR DESCRIPTION:

The famous Valley of Huaylas is considered to be one of the most beautiful valleys of the world. Considered by wise Italian scientist and explorer Antonio Raimondi the best region of Peru. It is a colorful valley surrounded by two long mountain ranges - Cordillera Blanca and Cordillera Negra. This area of snowcapped mountains is favorite for many climbers. In addition, it is surrounded with picturesque villages and cities, as Recuay, Carhuaz, Yungay, Caraz, etc. Cordillera Blanca has a total of 663 glaciers (29 of them at 6000 meters or higher) and includes Huascaran (6768 meters), the highest peak in the Peruvian Andes, and Alpamayo, considered by many to be the most beautiful mountain in the world.

Huaraz lies at 3100 meters, and is the capital of the Department of Ancash. Located high in the Andean mountains, Huaras is blessed with the most attractive surroundings in Peru and is a "must see" for anyone interested in the great outdoors.
Its proximity to the Cordillera Blanca and Huayhuash make it one of the premiere climbing and trekking destinations in the world.

ITINERARIO DEL TOUR A HUARAZ:

Day 1 - City Tour - full day
We will pick you up from your hotel or apartment early in the morning - 5:00 a.m.- and we will drive to Huaraz aboard our modern air-conditioned minivan.
We will arrive to city of Huaraz by noon, taking you to your hotel and giving you enough time for lunch. We are scheduling Huarz City Tour after lunch, visiting the city itself, the Reginal Museum of Huaraz, Senor de la Soledad Church, traditional Olaya Street, Mirador (optional), Huaraz Plaza de Armas (Main Square) and Monterrey Thermal Baths (optional).
Since this will be your first day at high altitude we will go easy, in order to avoid altitude sickness. At the end we will return to your hotel for a good rest.

Day 2 - Callejon de Huaylas and Llanganuco Lakes - 9 hours approx.
We will pick you up from your hotel at 9:00 a.m. This excursion is undoubtedly one of the most impressive, because of the beauty of the scenery. We will visit Callejon de Huaylas and villages of Tarica, Anta, Marcara, Carhuaz, Mancos, Ranrahirca, Yungay, impressive Llanganuco Lakes inside Huascaran National Park, the cities of Yungay and Caraz, where we will take lunch. Finally, we will return to Huaraz and your hotel.

Day 3 - Chavin de Huantar and Querococha Lake - 11 hours aprox.
This tour is a mix of beautiful scenery with culture and history. No visit to Ancash is complete without seeing the famous architectural ruins of Chavin, located 109 km from Huaraz in the Conchucos Region.
We will leave your hotel around 9:00 a.m., driving through the villages of Recuay, Ticapampa y Catac. We will stop at Querococha Lake, from where we will start to climb until Cahuish Tunnel. From that point we are entering Callejon de los Conchucos, driving through picturesque communities of Tambillos, Machac, Quercos - until we arrive to famous Chavin de Huantar. Between 800-200 B.C., this culture developed a powerful religion which had great influence over many parts of highland and coastal Peru. The great temple contains many stone-lined galleries where Chavin priests consulted their gods (the Great Idol or Lanzon), and performed sacrificial ceremonies. There is also a on-site museum, rather small, but very interesting. We will return to Huaraz after lunch, and finally leave you at your hotel for a well-deserved rest.

Day 4 - Shopping and return Lima
We will have half of the morning to buy souvenirs, and have lunch - before we leave Huaraz, and start our journey back to Lima. We will take you to your hotel or apartment, upon our arrival to Lima.
