Mario Vargas Llosa was amazed with the citadel of Caral
Nobel Prize Winner for Literature in 2010 visited the oldest city in America with his friends Beatriz Merino, Fernando de Szyszlo and Alonso Cueto.

The last weekend, Mario Vargas Llosa visited the city of Caral in the company of Minister of Culture Juan Ossio and friends Szyszlo Fernando Alonso Cueto, Beatriz Merino, Fred Cooper and George Grünberg. The Nobel Prize Winner for Literature in 2010 had always had the desire to visit the Citadel of Caral and was very surprised by its beautiful architecture and landscape.
"It is a amazing. The composition of monuments is fully integrated into the outline, and the scenery is breathtaking (...) have long wanted to come, but only I could realize this desire. It is much nicer than I imagined, the buildings show a refinement - incredible pyramids are impressive and its walls are well preserved. I believe that Peruvian Tourism in this place will grow much more in the future" says Vargas Llosa.
The Nobel Prize Winner in Literature 2010 indicated that the city of Caral should set an example for higher things.
"This place (the Sacred City of Caral) should be a source of pride and affirmation for Peruvians now. If we did this for five thousand years, why not think about taking it as an example and achieve many things."
Vargas Llosa and his friends were led by Dr. Ruth Shady, head of the Caral-Supe Archaeological Project.
