Lima City Tour is a perfect combination of three historical periods in the history of Lima: pre hispanic, colonial and modern Lima.
Lima is peruvian capital and gateway for travel throughout the country. It was the capital of Spanish Colony, and since it's foundation proudly bears a name 'City of Kings'. Most of the tourists stay just couple of days in Lima, before continuing their Peru Travel. However, there is plenty of things to do in Lima. It houses country's best museums and restaurants, and Lima nightlife has plenty to offer.
LIMA CITY TOUR ITINERARY:
We will pick you up from your Hotel at your convenience.
Your tour start by visiting Miraflores District, with excellent view of Pacific Ocean, Parque del Amor (Love Park), y Parque Kenneddy.
Our next point of interest is Huaca Pucllana (panoramic view), magnificent ceremonial and administrative center of Lima Culture, built in the 4th century AD. It has a shape of truncated pyramid built with small mud bricks ('adobitos') placed in the particular form of bookseller.
On our way to Lima downtown we will visit the upper-class and new financial district of San Isidro, and it's famous park El Olivar. The olive trees we will see there are brought from Spain in the late sixteenth century.
Then, we will take you to Lima Historic Centre, visiting (panoramic view) Plaza Grau, Justice Palace, San Martin Square, where we will see the monument of don Jose de San Martin (the Liberator of Peru) and famous Hotel Bolivar.
Our next stop is Plaza Mayor (Main Square), where we will visit the Government Palace, Cathedral, Archbishop's Palace, Municipal Building, Santo Domingo Church, and Casa Aliaga.
We will enter the Church and convent of San Francisco, a beautiful masterpiece of colonial architecture constructed in the 17th century. We will also enter the catacombs under the church, containing the bones and skulls of some 25,000 people buried there, and we will visit a famous library - containing some of the oldest and most important books in this part of the world.
San Francisco Church and Convent were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1991.
At the end of the tour you will have a chance to buy some souvenirs (optional) and we will drive back to your Hotel.
